Energetic Danish Gymnasts Sponsored by Wind Energy
Vestas, the only company dedicated exclusively to wind energy and one of the clear leaders in its development, is sponsoring The National Danish Performance Team and their world tour which brings the team to Tianjin.
For three years Vestas, the Danish owned company, has been the main sponsor of The National Danish Performance Team (NDPT). NDPT is a gymnastic team consisting of the 28 most talented gymnasts in Denmark. The gymnasts, ages 18-24, are selected for both skill and character to share an unforgettable Danish experience around the world. More than 1.5 million spectators have been thrilled by their performances in 60 countries.
On their 2010/2011 tour the team is going to visit Vestas' manufacturing plants in five different cities all over the world. The next visit is in Tiajin, where the team will get a guided tour, do workshops and a small performance.
It is not without reason Vestas decided to sponsor NDPT three years ago. The gymnasts’ elegance and the wind turbines’ fine profile is a perfect match and the company’s values and mission connects perfectly with the Danish team.
“We want to strengthen the devotion and enthusiasm the team consists of. The energy, the passion, and the fervently wish to get better at what you do is something NDPT and Vestas have in common. And that’s why we our profiles and values fit so well together”, says Peter Wenzel Kruse, Senior Vice President at Vestas.
NDPT gives performance gymnastics at its best and the Danes have been leaders in this field for 100 years. NDPT presents a unique form of movement: traditional Danish gymnastics inspired by current dance trends, combined with artistic tumbling and acrobatics. The team displays coordination, strength and balance with their show Connections; a fun family show filled with drama, humour and breakneck exercises.
The gymnasts, 14 men and 14 women, donate their time as unpaid ambassadors for their country. “We have selected 28 of the most talented gymnasts and they are ready with a spectacular show,” said Johannes Bjerre, the show’s general manager. “The audience is in for an innovative performance of very high quality.”
Danish gymnasts have toured the globe to promote their culture and sport for 80 years. The team’s 2010 U.S. Tour began Oct. 9 with a performance at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. After three months in USA the world tour continued to Australia, Singapore, Japan and now the team is in China. In the middle of March 2011 NDPT returns to Europe and spends 14 days in Scotland before the extensive Danish Tour is launched in early April.
